Molecular Mishap

Have you ever heard of someone looking for a pair of glasses, only to turn around and find the spectacles perched on top of her head?
Well, I kind of feel like that right now, except it has nothing to do with misplacing anything tangible. Nay, nay, I simply lost a microscopic morsel of my memory.
And I’m so hacked off.
After working for hours, I missed a deadline for a writing contest. I could scream, I tell you. In fact, I think I will.
There. I feel so much better now.
Not.
Anyway, as I was about to turn my submission in, I discovered the deadline was based on Eastern Standard Time. It’s amazing how one little hour can do so much damage.

Ahem.
I guess I’ll chalk this up to my growing list of faux pas, move on, and search for greener pastures.
Still, I’m so annoyed.
Perhaps crying would be better.

Nah. Not going to help.
When it comes to my memory, this incident is something I’d like to forget. Why be reminded of such an idiotic mishap?
On the other hand, I don’t want to make the same mistake twice, so maybe it’s not such a bad idea if I keep the little molecules tucked away in my gray matter.
I guess something good came out of it, right? (Who knows? If I keep telling myself this, maybe someday I'll belive it.)

  2. Thanks Deborah - enjoyable post & pictures - those memory blanks seem to increase in number, the more years that pass.

  5. The worst is when you forget the name of someone that you actually should know, especially if you are about to introduce them to someone else. Embarrassing!

  7. Sorry you missed your deadline, Deborah. Perhaps you have needed to save that bit of writing for another purpose--something you wouldn't be able to use it for if you'd submitted it. You never know. Or...you could use this opportunity to seek another opportunity for that piece of writing.

Then again, have you tried post-it notes?

    1. LOL Carol. I do have post-it notes. Go figure.

And I've had one other person tell me the same thing you just did, so there is a reason for this happening.

      As always, thanks for stopping!

  8. Many of us can completely commiserate, I'm certain of it. In fact, I am one of those who is always 5-10 minutes early to all of her appointments. But I missed an important interview due to my alarm not even going off even though I was quite certain I set it (I checked it twice). Because of that, I didn't get an Assistant Manager position at a retail store. However, now I'm working from home for an excellent company and I don't think I would have this position if I had landed that job.

  9. Well there are always other contests. I've just missed one myself that I had been putting off preparing my entry for a month. I guess I didn't really have the commitment.

  10. I know that awful sinking feeling of "just missing the mark" What I find amazing about memory is it is "selective" and we choose which memories to dwell on - They bring us either happiness or despair. So file this one sweetie, I do believe something good will come of this opportunity. Peace and Blessings

  11. This reminds me of Romans 8:28 I love how God redeems our mistakes. Or orchestrates behind the scenes. I love seeing His hand of mercy and grace in our lives.

  12. I've done the glasses on the head thing, along with the keys in the hand thing - frantically searching through the purse with one hand, looking for the keys that were in the other hand the whole time - and the missed-the-deadline-by-that-much thing too. Frustrating. You have my empathy. :)
